About Auommaton
Our Genesis & Institutional Heritage
The Amalgamated Union of Motor Mechanics and Technicians of Nigeria (AUOMMATON) represents a landmark unification of Nigeria’s informal automotive trade and informal economy artisans.
A Unified Front for Automotive Artisans
Formed through a strategic merger of national bodies representing major mechanic associations—including the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) and the Lady Mechanic Association of Nigeria (LMAON)—AUOMMATON stands as the primary institutional voice for automotive technicians, artisans, and self-employed informal sector workers across the nation.
What We Do
Driving technical innovation, clean energy adoption, and vocational mastery through strategic execution across three key pillars:

Technical Upskilling & Certification
Upgrading traditional motor mechanics with modern diagnostic capabilities, electronic engine management, and standardized technical certifications.

Clean Energy & Technology Transfer
Leading Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion programs and partnering with international manufacturers (like STAG Germany and VMPAUTO Russia) to introduce cutting-edge industry tools.

Grassroots & Youth Empowerment
Deploying proven vocational frameworks through the Lady Mechanic Initiative and N.A.T.A.’s nationwide network to create sustainable livelihoods and promote inclusive technical training.
Our Journey to Official Recognition
The journey to formal unionization began in 2018 through a rigorous five-year consultative process among founding leadership bodies.
-
May 5, 2023: A formal application was submitted to the Honorable Minister of Labour and Employment.
-
October 6, 2023: AUOMMATON was officially registered by the Registrar of Trade Unions, Mr. Falonipe Amos O., at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja.
-
Federal Government Gazette: The official establishment of the union was published in the Federal Government Official Gazette (No. 121, Volume 110 of 2023).
NLC Affiliation & National Stature
As one of the newest registered unions for informal sector workers and artisans, AUOMMATON proudly operates as one of the 59 officially affiliated industrial unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), advancing capacity development, advocacy, and economic empowerment for millions of automotive professionals nationwide.
Our Mission & Vision
To revolutionize technical and vocational training across Nigeria by bridging the gap between informal workshop practice and modern industrial standards. Powered by N.A.T.A. and the Lady Mechanic Initiative, we deliver standardized certification, clean-energy conversion training, and state-of-the-art tools to empower local technicians.
To establish a globally recognized, self-sustaining technical ecosystem that elevates automotive engineering, fosters gender inclusion, and drives sustainable economic growth across Africa.
